Should varicose veins be left untreated?

My groom had varicose veins, so he had surgery twice.

But a few days ago, I noticed that the side with the sternal bone, not the calf, was slightly bumpy, but I have no symptoms. I don't have any particular discomfort. Do I not need surgery?
