A dental clinic recommended laminate treatment; is it okay for me to get it?

My friend went to the dentist a few days ago and said there was a hole in their front tooth.

Huh? I thought it looked fine, but when I heard the explanation, they said there was a small hole next to my front tooth, and cavity bacteria had burrowed in there, so the inside is quite hollow.

So, I was told I needed root canal treatment, so I decided to visit a few other dental clinics. However, only one place told me that I just needed laminate treatment and cavity treatment.

The cost is similar, but my friend was hesitating because she knows root canal treatment is very painful and agonizing.

But as far as I know, veneers aren't done for the purpose of treating cavities... so I'm a bit unsure and wanted to ask.
