I have a small bump inside my mouth. What could it be?
Since three days ago, the inside of my lower lip and the inside of my upper lip have been rough and bumpy, and upon inspection, they look like the photo with uneven bumps. There is no pain at all, but I feel a foreign body sensation, which is uncomfortable. I thought it might be due to fatigue and that it would be okay after the weekend, but the bumps haven't gone away and have actually increased a bit.
Could this be adult hand-foot-mouth disease? I looked up the symptoms of hand-foot-mouth disease.
In adults with hand-foot-and-mouth disease, small blister-like rashes the size of rice grains appear on the hands, feet, and mouth, and mild fever may occur. In the early stages of hand-foot-and-mouth disease, symptoms similar to a cold such as sore throat, cough, fever, loss of appetite, and body aches are observed, followed by the appearance of blistering rashes after a day or two.
Among the symptoms above, except for the rice grain-sized rash, there are no mild fever or cold symptoms, so I wonder if it is not hand-foot-mouth disease. Hand-foot-mouth disease is a contagious disease, and I hope it is not just that. Which department should I visit for these symptoms? Otolaryngology? Or general internal medicine?
