I am a man in my 40s. What should I do about adult acne?
Hello!
I am an ordinary man in my mid-40s. Recently, I have been very concerned about my skin, so I am writing this. In my twenties, I hardly had any acne, but at this age, adult acne suddenly started to appear. I especially get it frequently around my chin and cheeks, and I worry because it seems to worsen each time I shave due to irritation.
At first, I didn't think much of it, but now scars and pigmentation are left behind on the spots where the acne disappeared, making my face look bumpy. Honestly, I sigh every time I look in the mirror. Standing in front of people at work also makes me worry unnecessarily.
I have made a lot of effort during that time.
I tried using a cleanser that controls oil and also switched to a lighter moisturizer.
After shaving, I also used a soothing product to reduce irritation.
I tried to improve my eating habits by reducing greasy foods and drinking plenty of water.
I also keep exercising regularly to keep my body moving.
But as for the effect... it’s a bit uncertain. It feels okay for a moment, then it comes back again. I’ve also visited dermatologists a few times, and while the medication seemed to help at first, the condition returns to its original state.
Are there anyone who have experienced similar concerns or who are knowledgeable about skincare? What more can I try? Please give me some gentle advice!
Thank you for reading. Even a small tip can be a great help!
