I had a small cut on my thumb, and a few days later, the wound area became swollen and red, with a fever and throbbing pain. I went to an orthopedic hospital and was told that it was an infection caused by bacteria, resulting in inflammation. I received about 20 days of antibiotic intravenous injections and took medication, so the pain has subsided. However, my hand and wrist are still swollen, and I cannot use my left hand. I am worried and very uncomfortable. Why does the swelling not go down even with continuous cold compresses?
