A review of hospital treatment after developing cold sores due to herpes symptoms
I kissed my boyfriend who had herpes symptoms, and I developed cold sores with the same symptoms on my lips. I was also infected with herpes, so I received medical treatment and used acyclovir cream.
I thought it might be herpes, but it turned out to be true. My boyfriend had something on his lips, so I was a bit hesitant about physical contact, but I went ahead without worrying and then the very next day, I also developed a sore on my lips and my lips hurt. I thought it would get better after a day or two, but it didn't improve at all. I searched to see which department I should visit to get antiviral medication prescribed, and I found out that herpes is treated in almost all clinics. Internal medicine, dermatology, ENT, and family medicine all provide treatment, so I visited an internal medicine clinic near my house.
When asked if this is herpes, they said yes. However, they said that oral medication is not really necessary and only prescribed acyclovir cream. In that case, hospital treatment was not really needed, so I just spent money on the hospital. But I think the doctor might be a quack, and I don't know how to prevent or manage my body. It seemed like they didn't know much about herpes. I should have looked into the hospital options and received proper treatment. If a cold sore appears on the lips like herpes and the symptoms are not severe, it's best to just buy acyclovir cream at the pharmacy. Next time I have symptoms again, I can go to the pharmacy and treat it for 3,000 to 5,000 won.
