When suddenly experiencing heartburn, severe pain, and vomiting

Yesterday evening, I suddenly experienced severe stomach pain and constant nausea, leading to a lot of vomiting. Since I wasn't in a situation to go to the emergency room, I took some stomach medication I had at home that was prescribed for ulcers, but the symptoms showed no signs of subsiding. Thankfully, I felt much better after sleeping and waking up. Given that I can't go to the emergency room and have stomach pain in this situation, are there any emergency first aid methods? Please share.
