A while ago, I discovered a hard, corn-like growth on my thumb. At first, I thought it was just a callus and ignored it, but it's not going away and feels slightly uncomfortable when I press on it, so I'm starting to worry about it. It doesn't look like much, but I'm worried because I don't know what caused it.
It feels especially stiff on days when I use my hands a lot or when I've been holding my smartphone for a long time, and it seems to stand out a bit more after prolonged contact with water. Conversely, if I rest my hands or moisturize them, they do feel a bit softer.
So, what I've tried to do myself is try to avoid irritating my hands as much as possible, apply lotion frequently, and protect them with bandages. I'm careful not to touch or pick at them just in case, but I'm still anxious because they don't show any signs of going away. I'm wondering if this is really a callus or if there's something else going on. If anyone has had a similar experience or can offer advice, please leave a comment.
