I suddenly felt sick and chilly, so I thought it was just a simple health issue. But as time passed, unusual symptoms continued, and I later realized they were precursor symptoms of norovirus. If I'd known, I would have taken action sooner.
The first symptom I felt was a vague abdominal discomfort. I felt slightly bloated and had a persistent feeling of indigestion, but it wasn't severe, so I dismissed it. At the same time, I felt inexplicably tired and weak, and my body felt chilly, like a low-grade fever. At the time, I simply assumed it was due to overwork or the pre-cold phase.
As time passed, the nausea became increasingly severe, and I couldn't even think about food. Even the smell of food I normally enjoyed made me feel sick, which I think was one of the precursor symptoms of norovirus. I also experienced recurring stomach rumblings and gas, and I had to go to the bathroom frequently.
Afterwards, I developed mild abdominal pain and diarrhea, and that's when I realized something was wrong. I felt these vague symptoms first, before full-blown vomiting or severe diarrhea. Looking back, these signs were typical precursors to norovirus.
I also regret that if I had gotten enough rest and controlled my diet during the norovirus prodrome, my symptoms might have been less severe. Especially in winter or when your immune system is weakened, even symptoms that seem like simple indigestion shouldn't be ignored. If you experience sudden nausea, abdominal discomfort, a low-grade fever, or extreme fatigue, it's crucial to suspect norovirus prodrome and respond quickly.
