This is a review of the Mammotome treatment for breast tumor removal.
I found out that I had a lump while getting a breast examination.
The first hospital I visited immediately recommended a Mammotome procedure, but I went to another hospital, and since they also said I needed the procedure, I eventually underwent the surgery.
I felt a small, rice-grain-sized lump in my armpit, and since I had never had a breast ultrasound before, I decided to get tested while I was at it.
I have several small cysts larger than 1cm on my left breast...!
Initially, I had the Mammotome treatment surgery right at the hospital. I was a bit flustered because I was told to make a reservation.
Probably almost all women (especially Asians, most of whom have dense breasts) You likely have symptoms such as lumps, cysts, or microcalcifications in your chest.
There are some cysts that do not necessarily need to be removed and do not cause any problems, and if surgery is not needed immediately I heard that in some cases, follow-up examinations are sufficient, but if the shape is poor or the size is 2cm or larger, Mammotome treatment is often performed.
But when it actually happened to me, I was scared.
I had absolutely no knowledge about Mammotome treatment, and since it was so sudden, it was difficult to decide on surgery right away, so I visited another hospital first.
However, that hospital also gave the same result, stating that the shape was not good. It wasn't that I doubted the first hospital, but since it is generally better to visit several places, I decided to proceed with the surgery once I received a definitive result.
Although daily life is not difficult after a mammotome surgery, I was told that I wouldn't even be able to shower for about three days, so I scheduled the appointment to include a Friday and a substitute holiday.
Mammotome is a method of excising lumps by making a 3-5mm incision in the skin and inserting a needle. There is almost no scarring or hollowing.
The Mammotome treatment process
The procedure proceeds as follows: confirming the surgical site with ultrasound -> anesthetic injection -> surgery -> hemostasis and finishing.
The surgery takes 15 to 20 minutes per side. It was.
After stopping the bleeding, I put on a compression bandage and moved to the hospital room.
After receiving Mammotome treatment, you are also given a certificate of authenticity like this.
So that was the name of a global company..
So, it is not covered by insurance. In most cases, it is not covered by private health insurance.
After the surgery, I received a hemostatic injection in my buttocks and an IV drip of painkillers.
And the compression bandage was really uncomfortable. I saw a lot of reviews saying the bandage was uncomfortable, but it was actually more uncomfortable than I imagined.
After surgery, I have to stay lying face down like this to stop the bleeding. (Photo of the person)
If I didn't stop the bleeding properly, a hematoma or bruise could form, so I somehow managed to endure it, but I It was really suffocating.
I had the compression bandage replaced the next day, but when I complained that it was very uncomfortable,
They wrapped it around my shoulder like a one-shoulder dress. I had the bandage changed, was hospitalized for two days and one night, and was discharged.
I went back to get the stitches removed a week later.
During that period, I disinfected it myself at home and wrapped it with a compression bandage.
I bought a compression bandage separately and wrapped it around myself, instead of using the one sold as a non-covered item at the hospital.
Precautions After Mammotome Treatment
Avoid lifting heavy objects for about two weeks.
Do not sleep on the operated side
Avoid strenuous exercise
No alcohol
The final biopsy results were... fortunately, it was a fibroma.
The hospital told me that the Mammotome procedure is so common that it is simple enough to be considered a surgical procedure, but in my experience, it wasn't easy. Although I have no scars and absolutely no side effects now, there were many things to worry about—such as muscle pain, compression bandages, sleeping position, and aftercare—rather than the surgery itself.
Breast examinations are truly essential regardless of age.
Or it could reappear at any time, shrink in size, grow larger, or change shape.
So currently, I am receiving regular breast surgery checkups.
I highly recommend that women get breast screenings even if they do not have a family history.
