Review of Ingrown Toenail Treatment and Correction
2025.09.01 21:11
There are many of you who have ingrown toenails, right? I have an ingrown toenail too.
My fingernails are fine, but the edges of my toenails on both sides were digging into my skin, so I received treatment and correction procedures for ingrown toenails.
First of all, as you know, the symptoms of an ingrown toenail are
- A phenomenon where the toenail curls inward and digs into the skin, causing pain and swelling.
My feet get tired even after talking a little.
- If I wear socks with shoes, the toe area often gets holes😅
These are the three main types. I fit all three of them.
I don't have an extremely severe ingrown toenail like in those provocative shop photos.
However, since my toenails are upward-pointing and ingrown, when I wore closed shoes and walked for a long time, my big toe would get pressed down and hurt for several days.
I kept neglecting it, but I felt like I couldn't go on like this, so I inquired at the nail salon my mom goes to. They said they could treat problematic nails—including ingrown toenails—so I went to the nail salon to get my ingrown toenail treated.
Since the condition of my other toes isn't very severe, I decided to only correct my big toe.
The treatment process involves first trimming the toenails, applying a toenail softener, and then attaching a corrector.
You live like that for 4 weeks with the braces attached.
The principle is that the corrector holds the toenail in place, preventing it from growing into the skin.
When I look at other ingrown toenail treatment reviews, the corrector is usually made of metal and is very large, but at this shop, it's a transparent silicone band, so it was comfortable and didn't get in the way!
The downside is that you shouldn't cut your toenails for 4 weeks until you go for treatment because you need to change the direction they grow.
Also, a word of caution: I intentionally wore a lot of slippers or flip-flops that expose my feet, but I heard that wearing slippers automatically puts a lot of pressure on the balls of your toes. While this isn't a problem for people with normal toenails, it is said to be bad for those with ingrown toenails. That is why it is recommended to wear sneakers.
Condition of the toenail 4 weeks after the first ingrown toenail treatment
After about a month, the round toenails slightly changed into a square shape.
I couldn't cut my toenails, but since they provide toenail scaling when I go for secondary ingrown toenail treatment, I don't have to worry about the length of my toenails.
They always carefully check the size of my toenails, and they definitely straightened out!
When the treatment is finished Please put the braces back on.
3 weeks after the second ingrown toenail treatment.
It's a bit better than the first time.
If you look at the toenail from above rather than from the front, you can see more clearly that the rounded ends are gradually changing.

Now that I compare them like this, it seems like the width of the toenails has gotten longer as well.
It didn't change dramatically right after the treatment, but I still have the final, third ingrown toenail treatment in a month, so I think it will straighten out even more than it is now once the last treatment is finished.
Another downside is definitely the price, but considering how much my feet have hurt, I think it's worth the investment!
