One day, I found a lump(?) settled right in the center of my ear.
At first, I didn't think much of it, but as it gradually swelled and became painful, I went to the ENT clinic, and I was diagnosed with an ear abscess. I had the pus drained with a syringe and received treatment for the abscess.
This section symptoms and pain
The shape was like a pimple or skin cyst, resembling a bump or lump, and it wasn't very large.
The pain wasn't usually felt and was only slightly painful when pressed with my hand. One day, it was very painful even without touching it.
I felt a fever and, although there was no swelling initially, I saw the swelling had increased, so I went to the hospital.
A red, bulging bump
Of course, I thought it was either a pimple or a skin cyst.
In the ENT department, they call it ear canal.
This section was the first time I heard that term.
According to the doctor, it can be thought of as an inflammatory pus lump.
It looks like a pimple on the surface, so people say it's a pimple on the ear, but in fact, it's a different form from pimples on the face, so it doesn't disappear on its own, and treatment for the ear is definitely necessary.
Actually, it was not a pimple but pus from otitis externa—a surprising twist...!
The reason for this lesion is said to be due to various factors such as immune strength, sebum secretion, and stress. Lately, I suspect it might be because I haven't been sleeping well, which could affect my immune system.
Treatment methods
We performed the procedure of administering anesthesia and draining pus with a syringe.
After draining the pus during this section of treatment, you wiped the surrounding area with a cotton swab and showed it to me, and the pus was dark red. I vaguely thought it was yellow pus, but it wasn't yellow. It was said to be severely infected.
This process was painless because of anesthesia. Even after the anesthesia wore off, I felt nothing.

Anyway, this section of treatment was very simple and not severe, so there were no prescriptions for medication or ointments.
After removing the band, there was a syringe wound, but after a while, the wound healed quickly.
Through this treatment, I learned that a lump inside the ear doesn't necessarily mean it's a pimple or skin cyst!!
If you notice something protruding in your ear, please keep in mind the possibility of an ear abscess and consider seeking treatment!
