Should I always throw away expired shampoo?

While recently organizing my cupboard, I found a shampoo that a friend gave me as a gift a few years ago.

I put it in a drawer to keep it safe, but I forgot to use it, so I'm upset.

I checked the expiration date and it was already two months past.

Since shampoo is a product that comes into direct contact with the scalp, it would be best to strictly adhere to the expiration date, wouldn't it?
