Difference between ankle sprain and ankle tendinitis

What is the difference between a sprain and tendinitis?

I came to the orthopedic clinic because I have ankle pain.

They say it's a sprain.

I thought it was tendinitis, but it turned out to be a sprain.

What is the difference between the two?
