I had been suffering from a boil on my thigh for over a week. Since I felt I had to attend my nephew's wedding on Sunday, I went to a nearby dermatology clinic. However, because the affected area was too large and old, they advised me to go to a larger hospital, so I visited the Department of Surgery at Serim Hospital in front of the Bupyeong District Office. They explained that a small boil I had had before had grown into a large abscess about a year ago because my diabetes wasn't well controlled and I hadn't quit smoking. They said they needed to cut it open and scrape out the pus and asked if I wanted to be hospitalized. Since I didn't want to be admitted just for a boil, I suggested proceeding with the procedure immediately, and they took me to the operating room.
They scared me by saying it would be really painful even with local anesthesia, but it’s not as painful as a spinal nerve injection.
