This is a review of a sebaceous cyst removal surgery performed at Goyang Yepi Dermatology Clinic.

Reason for visiting the hospital
​I suddenly felt a round sensation behind my earlobe where I was wearing the earring.
I don't wear earrings every day, but I do wear them sometimes. That day, when I was trying to put the earring in, I felt a round lump with my hand.

When I pressed it with my hand, I felt heat and it hurt.

I don't wear earrings all the time, but the lump I have doesn't seem to be a pimple... I have a feeling it might be a sebaceous cyst.

There was something that looked like white millet, and when I touched it, the lump was very large.

Later on, it got even more swollen than this.

Hospital Introduction
Yepibu Clinic is located in Hwajeong-dong, Goyang-si.
It's a dermatology clinic I've been going to since I was little, so it's been a really long time.
Of course, the CEO has changed several times over the years, and recently.
The hospital was remodeled after the new director was replaced, and thanks to that, the hospital atmosphere has become much cleaner.

 

Hospital selection criteria
At first, I was debating whether to go to a surgeon or a dermatologist, but since the area was small and behind my ear, I ended up going to a dermatologist.

I had surgery for a sebaceous cyst at a dermatology clinic before.
At that time, it was not behind the ear, but a different area. Although the doctor I was treated by then was different from the doctor I am treated by now, I visited the dermatology clinic again because they had successfully performed a sebaceous cyst surgery there. I trusted their experience from that time and visited again.

 

Received consultation
The director looked at my ear and said that sebaceous cysts are usually caused by clogged pores,
He said that it can be caused by inflammation due to skin problems, genetics, other constitutions, or even wearing earrings.
If sebum gets trapped in the earring hole that pierces the skin of the ear, it can cause a cyst to form, and there are quite a few patients like me who have visited dermatologists with sebaceous cysts in their earlobes!
And he told me that this was something that had to be done right away.
If the size is small, treatment can be done by just draining the pus, but for sebaceous cysts, surgery is necessary because the lump pocket must be removed to prevent cysts from forming in that pocket again, he explained.
I wanted to get it done quickly, so I asked if I could have the surgery today, and they said it was possible today!
I had surgery that very day.
The surgical procedure was very simple, but it was still a surgery, so it had to be cut and sutured.

I didn't feel anything when I got the anesthetic injection and it didn't hurt even after the anesthesia wore off!

They said it was a simple surgery, but it took quite a while, about 30 to 40 minutes.

The director said that when he actually opened it, there was a lot of pus inside.

It was behind my ear so I had no idea.

 

After the surgery, they intentionally made the dressing larger so that I could not get it in the water on the same day.

I came back three days later to get a dressing.

I came back for the third time on the 1st day to get the stitches removed.

 

It was painful when the cyst was removed, but the pain completely disappeared after the surgery, so I realized that surgery was essential for sebaceous cysts.

And there was no pain at all when I got the dressing, but it hurt a little when they took the stitches out.

It was so painful that tears welled up in my eyes.

 

Immediately after unraveling the thread, the twisted mark is clearly visible.

The director said that he only treated the scars to a minimum, and since it was behind my ear, I didn't pay any attention to it.

 

And this little mark disappeared after a while.

But I guess a surgical scar is still a surgical scar.

Of course, I didn't wear earrings until the surgical scars completely disappeared.

I was careful not to take hot showers and to lie down on my operated ear.

 

Since it is behind the ears and not easily visible from behind, I didn't pay much attention to it.

Before I knew it, it had all healed.

The surgical scar disappeared without a trace and I haven't had any bruises or pus since!

If I had just squeezed it, it might have relapsed, but I think it definitely didn't relapse because I had the surgery.

 

Overall satisfaction with treatment and consultation

I was very satisfied because I was able to have the surgery right away thanks to the director's quick decision.

The fact that sebaceous cysts do not recur after surgery is also proof of this!

I was also satisfied that they provided post-surgery care instructions so I didn't have to search the internet for them separately.

Since this treatment was covered by insurance, I received a partial refund after receiving the necessary documents for insurance coverage after the treatment was completed.

The director is very meticulous and kind, but not all of the desk staff were kind, but at least one person was very kind, which was nice.

The staff member wrote down the name of the disease and the code separately on the insurance form.

Those of you who have ever processed insurance know that it is a hassle to have to reapply if you don't have a code, right?

I don't have to worry about whether this is correct, because you wrote down the exact disease name and code!

I got a refund at once.

Some hospitals have staff who find this paperwork annoying, but the staff in charge of the dermatology department were not at all annoyed and were very friendly.

 

If there is anything to regret

It's a dermatology clinic that provides both skin care and aesthetic treatments, so there are a lot of people.

It is possible to make reservations for aesthetics, but it is a bit disappointing that reservations for skin treatment are not possible, so a long wait is inevitable.

The age range of people visiting the dermatology clinic for skin treatment is very diverse, from children to young adults and the elderly, so it seemed like the consultation time was getting longer.

 

Intention to revisit

So far, I am satisfied with the treatment, so I think I will continue to come here unless I have any particular complaints.

It seems like many people are already satisfied with the treatment, as people come from other regions as well!
