❶ Prolonged use of smartphones

Do you avoid looking at your smartphone even until the moment you open and close your eyes? Prolonged use of smartphones can cause eye fatigue and dryness. Especially, viewing bright screens in dark environments places even greater strain on the eyes. Habitually lying in bed while looking at smartphones or tablets weakens the eye's focusing ability and can impair vision. It is better to rest your eyes and focus on sleep before going to bed.

 

❷ Incorrect reading habits

Reading books in dark places or reading while lying down can also cause vision deterioration. It is important to keep a distance of 30-40cm between the book and the eyes and to read under proper lighting. Additionally, after an hour of reading, take a 10-minute break to relieve eye fatigue. These are simple and immediate methods to help maintain eye health.

 

❸ Long-term contact lens use

Everyone has experienced falling asleep while wearing contact lenses by mistake. This is very bad for eye health.

Even if it means going to bed without washing your face, always remove your contact lenses before sleeping. Wearing lenses for more than 8 hours or poor hygiene can cause eye inflammation. Minimize the wearing time and store the lenses in a clean case with lens solution.

 

❹ The habit of rubbing your eyes

There are people who habitually rub their eyes. Frequently rubbing the eyes due to itching can cause damage to the cornea. This can lead to keratitis or conjunctivitis. Ophthalmologists recommend using eye drops or exposing the eyes to wind or cool air to relieve the itch. Always keep your hands clean, and washing your hands before touching your eyes is the most basic rule.

 

Insufficient UV protection

Exposure to strong ultraviolet rays increases the risk of eye diseases such as cataracts. During winter days when the sun's UV rays are intense, it is important to wear sunglasses or hats when going outside to prevent UV exposure.

 

Neglect of ophthalmology examination

Just like other parts of the body, regular eye check-ups are essential. Even if there are no issues with your vision, it is good to develop a habit of regular eye examinations to monitor eye health. An ophthalmologist should check your eyes once a year if there are no problems, and if you experience blurriness or dryness, it is important to have a check-up every six months to assess your eye health. This allows for early detection and treatment of diseases, helping you pay more attention to your eye health.

    요즘 저도 휴대폰에 일하느라 컴퓨터 모니터만 보고 있다보니 
    눈이 쉴틈이 없네요.
