Many think of the treadmill as an easy exercise machine, but to see proper workout results, you need to maintain correct posture and vary the speed and incline. Here are three common mistakes that tend to reduce the effectiveness of treadmill workouts.

Holding onto the bars on both sides of the treadmill while running prevents proper posture and gait correction. Since no weight is placed on the legs, calorie expenditure naturally decreases. If you absolutely cannot run without holding onto the handles, it's better to slow down your speed so you can run with the correct posture. Once poor posture becomes a habit, it becomes difficult to correct, so even if the running speed is slow, training to run with proper posture is essential.

 

Running on flat ground at a 0-degree incline

 

Treadmills can be adjusted in two ways. One is the speed, and the other is the incline angle. Many people focus on controlling the speed, but tend to run with the incline at 0 degrees. Indoors, there are no obstacles like wind resistance or barriers. Merely adjusting the speed is inefficient in terms of time. To achieve effective results, the incline should be adjusted. As the incline angle increases, more force is applied to the hamstrings, which also helps develop the glute muscles, so try gradually increasing the treadmill's incline.

 

Running at the same speed for the same amount of time

 

Running at the same speed for the same duration on a treadmill without much thought is inefficient. If you do not vary your workout time and intensity, our bodies adapt to the consistent pattern and no longer improve physical condition. Especially if your goal is weight loss, more dynamic running is necessary.

 

Running outdoors makes it easier to do fartlek training because the terrain and scenery are diverse, but treadmills have limitations. Depending on your running goals and objectives, you should incorporate variations such as slow running, sprinting, long-distance running, or short-distance running.

    저도 젊었을때는 헬스장가서 러닝머신도했는데 나이먹으니 러닝머신하고나면 어지러워 이용안하고 공원에서 맑은공기마시며 걷기 수년째 실천중입니다
