Trot singer Jung Mi-ae revealed her battle with stage 3 oral cancer.

Jung Mi-ae revealed on the KBS 2TV parenting variety show 'The Return of Superman' (Superman is Back), aired on the 13th, that "one of the reasons for her cancer was a cavity," and that "her tongue was constantly rubbed against the decayed cavity." She added, "After giving birth to her fourth child, her immune system weakened, and the inflammation that developed on her tongue turned into cancer and metastasized to below her jaw."

Jung Mi-ae, who underwent about 8 hours of surgery at the time, lamented, "I had a third of my tongue removed and lymph nodes were extensively cut out due to the risk of recurrence." After the surgery, her tongue movement was unnatural, making pronunciation difficult, and singing was also challenging. Jung Mi-ae said, "Actually, I almost have no tongue. After the surgery, my tongue became shorter and bent," and added, "I can't move it freely."

Nevertheless, he recalled that he repeatedly practiced speaking and singing for rehabilitation, saying, "In fact, I was the head of the household. When I die, I have to muster even more strength worrying about the children I will leave behind." After marrying in 2007, Jung Mi-ae has four siblings: Jae-woon, 17, In-sung, 9, A-young, 7, and Seung-woo, 5. Jung Mi-ae expressed her tender feelings towards her children, saying, "Honestly, it was very scary and difficult, but aren't the kids in such need of a mother's touch?"

Jung Mi-ae said that she named her second child, In-seong, and her fourth child, Seung-woo, after actors Jo In-sung and Jo Seung-woo. She expressed her fan admiration for the two actors, saying, "I hope they grow up like that." Early in the morning, when preparing her children for school, she transformed into a 'supermom.' Jung Mi-ae made a giant steamed egg dish with 20 eggs, tied her daughter A-yeong's hair, and took care of the other children's clothes, perfectly fulfilling her role as a mother.

It is said that her ambition as a singer remains strong. Jung Mi-ae said, "I practice singing more diligently so that my tongue doesn't stiffen again," and "That's how I feel at ease."

Jeong Mi-ae gained fame by placing second in the 2019 TV Chosun trot competition 'Tomorrow's Miss Trot.' While active as a trot singer, she was diagnosed with cancer in December 2021 and took a hiatus.
