My knee started throbbing, and it hurt so much like being cut with a knife that I couldn't get a wink of sleep all night. I don't know how to describe it, but it felt like bones were rubbing against each other; it was so painful that I screamed at the slightest touch, so I went to the internal medicine clinic. The doctor examined me and said it was a typical acute gout attack. My uric acid levels rose, causing inflammation in my joints; unfortunately, it was my knee, so even walking was torture. I was prescribed Colchicine and steroids, and I definitely feel like the excruciating pain is subsiding a little a few hours after taking the medicine. It makes me reflect on myself, seeing how indulging in alcohol and meat lately is coming back to haunt me like this. For the time being, I need to take the prescribed medication diligently and drink much more water than usual to manage my condition strictly. Only those who have experienced it truly understand the pain of gout.
