[My Own Review of Dermatology Procedures] Repot Laser Dark Spot Removal + BBL HERO Blemish Removal, Honest Review After One Month!

I was worried about facial blemishes and dark spots, so I finally got laser treatment at a dermatology clinic!

I already had a few blemishes on my face, but as time went on, they seemed to get darker and more noticeable.

Especially one day, I took a selfie with my baby, and while the baby's skin was fair and white, my uneven skin tone stood out so much. Haha.

I tried using face masks and taking Vitamin C, but even though it seemed to improve a little, I didn't really feel like there was a definite difference.

Personally, I have an impatient personality and am not good at waiting a long time while taking care of things consistently, so I eventually decided to try laser treatment at a dermatology clinic.

 

1. Visit and consultation with a dermatologist (Thought it was melasma, but it's dark spots?)

I had heard so many stories from people around me saying that freckles and age spots come back even after laser treatment, so at first, my husband was also against it, asking if it was really necessary to spend money on it.

Dermatological procedures can cost anywhere from several hundred thousand won to a million won, so it is true that you would hesitate if the results are not certain.

However, I got stressed every time I looked in the mirror, and I really hated that my face didn't look clean even when I covered it with makeup.

Eventually, one day I suddenly made up my mind, booked the earliest possible date, and visited.

I looked into affordable places for dark spot removal, but I was too lazy to travel far, so I went to a nearby dermatology clinic.

After taking a picture and examining it closely, I was told that the pigmentation I thought was melasma was actually not melasma, but just regular blemishes and dark spots.

I naturally assumed it was melasma, but after listening to the doctor's explanation, I learned that the treatment methods for pigmentation vary depending on the type.

They suggested removing the large dark spots with a Repot laser and clearing up the blemishes spread across the rest of the face with a BBL HERO, so we decided to proceed with both procedures together.

 

2. Price and Procedure Decision by Tiny Spot Size

After consulting with them, they told me that in addition to the visible blemishes, there are three more small ones.

They said that if I remove all four, I can proceed at once, and that one treatment for small dark spots is free, but I noticed that the price for Repot dark spot removal varies quite a bit depending on the size.

• Basic price starting from 300,000 won based on 0.5cm

• The main black spot I was trying to remove was about 0.8cm

• A method where the price increases as the size increases

My budget was around one million won, but I realized that doing all four could cost more than expected.

So, first, I decided to proceed with just the 0.8cm black one, which was the most noticeable and largest, and do the remaining three small black ones next time.

What I realized here is that the cost of removing dark spots can vary depending on their size, so it is advisable to get them accurately checked at a dermatology clinic before they get too big.

3. What are the BBL HERO and Repot Laser received together?

I received two procedures this time.

① BBL HERO (Blemish Removal)

It is a laser device upgraded from the existing BBL, used for treatments such as improving skin pigmentation and blemishes.

I received treatment to get rid of the brown blemishes spread all over my face.

② Repot (RE) Laser (Blackout Removal)

It is a laser used to remove specific pigmented lesions, such as solar lentigines or age spots.

I chose this to intensively treat enlarged lentigos like mine.

It was fascinating to see that even with the same pigment, the treatment method can differ depending on the type.

 

4. Actual Procedure and Pain (Total Less than 10 minutes!)

Actually, I had heard of Repot while looking into blackout removal, but I downloaded BBL HERO without even knowing what it was. Haha.

The procedure order was to first perform BBL HERO for blemish removal, and finally remove dark spots with RePot.

✔️ BBL HERO Blemish Removal

It wasn't as painful as I thought.

It felt stinging and crackling on the blemished areas, and there was also a slight smell of burning skin.

Personally, it felt somewhat similar to hair removal, but it stung less. However, it did sting a bit more when I did the bridge of my nose.

✔️ Repot Laser Dark Spot Removal

I went through it last, and I felt a slightly cold sensation as the laser was being emitted.

It didn't sting as much as I expected, so I was able to receive it comfortably.

What surprised me the most was the procedure time.

Even though I removed all the blemishes and dark spots from my entire face, the whole process took less than 10 minutes.

I was nervous because it was my first time getting a laser treatment at a dermatology clinic, but I was relieved that it didn't hurt and finished quickly.

At the end, they even applied a soothing pack, which was refreshing and really nice.

 

5. Follow-up after BBL HERO procedure (Day to 1 week)

I was informed that with BBL HERO, I do not need to apply Duoderm to the treatment area, and that I just need to properly apply sunscreen, moisturizer, and regenerating cream.

If you look at the photo, it really looks like brown paint was splashed on my face—it's all patchy, isn't it? Haha.

Immediately after the procedure, the blemishes actually looked darker and patchier.

From that day on, I was allowed to wash my face with water, and I avoided wearing makeup as much as possible, applying only sunscreen.

 

✔️ Day 5 after the procedure

After about 2 to 3 days, the blemished areas actually started to turn darker.

I was told that the area irradiated by the laser was darkening, so I did not intentionally peel it off or touch it with my hands.

The larger blemishes remained a little longer, while the smaller ones fell off relatively quickly.

 

✔️ One week after the procedure

After about a week, the black bumps fell off, and my skin became much clearer.

As the dark blemishes definitely disappeared, I felt like my skin itself looked better.

In the past, even when I wore makeup, my skin looked messy because of blemishes, but now it looks much cleaner.

Although not all blemishes are completely gone, I was satisfied because the dark pigmentation was cleared up.

Maybe it's just my imagination, but my skin tone looked much clearer and felt like it had become smoother. Haha.

 

6. Progress after Repot laser dark spot removal (2~3 weeks)

Unlike BBL HERO, the post-procedure care for Repot was a little different.

I had to apply Duoderm to the procedure site and keep it on for two weeks, and I also took the prescribed medication for two weeks. After removing the Duoderm, I also applied ointment for about two to three days.

For two weeks, I sometimes felt a stinging sensation, and it was a little uncomfortable when washing my face.

More than anything, I was so curious about what was inside that I really wanted to peel off the Duoderm right away. Haha.

I was worried that the Duoderm might fall off in the middle, but fortunately, it stayed in place well.

 

✔️ Remove Duoderm after 2 weeks

Two weeks passed, and I finally took off the Duoderm.

I was advised to leave it on for about another week to allow my skin to stabilize, as there was still some redness remaining, so I followed those instructions.

I was really satisfied just by the fact that the large blackhead that bothered me every time I looked in the mirror was gone.

It was to the point where I wondered if I should have done it sooner.

Of course, we will have to wait and see if it recurs or if the pigmentation returns, but for now, I was highly satisfied just with the removal of the noticeable dark spots.

 

7. Honest review and thoughts after one month

I was surprised when I looked through my old photos after getting the procedure done recently.

The blackhead, which grew up to 0.8cm and cost quite a bit to remove, looked like just a small brown dot in old photos.

After seeing that it had gradually grown larger over time, I realized that I shouldn't just assume pigmented lesions are blemishes and leave them untreated.

Of course, not all blemishes turn into dark spots, so it is important to get a consultation at a dermatology clinic for an accurate distinction.

There are three main things I learned from this procedure.

1. Since treatment methods for melasma, blemishes, and dark spots may vary depending on the type, it is important to receive an accurate diagnosis first.

2. Since the cost of Repot varies depending on the size of the surplus, it is advisable to carefully check the price during the consultation.

3. Even after the procedure, consistent care such as UV protection and moisturization is necessary.

So, do I recommend lasers for removing blemishes and dark spots?

I would like to recommend it because I was personally satisfied.

I heard a lot of talk about how the pigmentation comes back even after laser treatment and doesn't disappear completely, but I was really happy that the unsightly pigmentation was cleared up.

Since only about a month has passed, it is difficult to judge the long-term effects, but so far, I am 100% satisfied. Haha.

I plan to take extra care of the remaining light blemishes, and if necessary, I intend to get BBL HERO additionally.

If you are stressed every time you look in the mirror because of freckles, blemishes, or dark spots on your face, I recommend getting an accurate diagnosis from a dermatologist rather than relying solely on home care.

I also thought they were all melasma at first, but they were actually dark spots and regular blemishes.

Treatment methods may vary depending on the type of pigmentation, so it would be best to check that first.

I really think I made the right decision getting this procedure. From now on, I plan to diligently apply sunscreen and consistently take care of my skin. ^^
