Female accountant explodes in group chat, saying, "CEO, I can't handle this... I'm quitting."

Female accountant explodes in group chat, saying, "CEO, I can't handle this... I'm quitting."

How angry must they have been to post a photo in the group chat and openly declare their intention to resign?

A post titled "My company's accounting sister has resigned" is rapidly spreading across various online communities, including FM Korea.

This post is a screenshot of a post uploaded to the internet community DC Inside on December 11th of last year. At that time, a DC Inside member posted a message stating, "The boss didn't have a big meal with acquaintances at the company the day before and didn't clean up. It is said that he told the accountant to clean up while he was not at work," along with a message and photos posted by the accountant in the company's group chat.

Kyung-ri posted a photo along with the message, "CEO, I can't handle this. I will resign effective today. Thank you for your efforts," showing the kitchen cluttered with containers and dishes containing leftover food with the CEO and acquaintances, and a paper bag filled with leftover containers casually thrown in.

Netizens who came across the post responded with comments such as, "You should quit a place like that," "Even if you're a salaried worker or a slave, if they start making you do work that truly feels like slavery, you should quit," "Telling someone to clean that up is crossing the line," and "If the CEO casually and consistently makes the accounting staff do such work and doesn't pay them well, then it's understandable."

Having a supervisor assign personal errands to an employee can be considered a typical form of workplace harassment.

Workplace harassment refers to acts where supervisors or colleagues use their superior position or relationships at work to inflict physical or mental pain on others or to worsen the working environment. Such harassment goes beyond simple conflicts and can cause serious problems within the organization, significantly affecting the victim's mental health and job performance.

To be recognized as workplace harassment, three conditions must be met.

First, utilize superiority in status or relationships. This includes cases where a superior uses their position or authority to give unfair orders to subordinates or abuses power in peer relationships. For example, a boss instructing an employee to handle personal matters or repeated acts of ignoring or discriminating against colleagues.

Next is exceeding the appropriate scope of work. This includes harassment behaviors that involve personal errands unrelated to work or unreasonable demands beyond the necessary scope of job performance. This refers to situations where individuals are forced to engage in activities unrelated to their original duties.

Finally, it refers to actions that cause physical or mental suffering or worsen the working environment. This includes cases where victims experience physical or mental pain or where the working environment deteriorates seriously due to problematic behavior. Repeated verbal abuse, threats, and insulting remarks are examples of this.
