Flatulence occurs when food residues in the intestines ferment due to bacteria. While it is an important sign of normal intestinal activity, frequent and uncontrollable flatulence can lead to embarrassing situations. The frequency and smell of flatulence are closely related to the foods we eat. Let's find out which foods cause foul-smelling flatulence.
◇Dairy products such as milk and cheese
Lactose intolerance occurs when the body cannot produce enough of the enzyme lactase, which is necessary to digest lactose. When consuming dairy products such as milk or cheese that are rich in lactose, individuals may experience frequent flatulence. This is because the lactose that reaches the small intestine is not properly digested and passes into the colon, where microbes break it down and produce gas. If you experience bloating or an upset stomach after eating dairy products, it is advisable to avoid them. The enzyme that breaks down lactose decreases with age, so gastrointestinal discomfort from dairy consumption may occur more frequently as you get older.
◇Onions and garlic
Eating onions and garlic causes foul-smelling flatulence. This is due to the sulfur compounds found in onions and garlic. When these sulfur compounds are broken down during digestion, they produce gases along with a characteristic odor. Besides onions and garlic, foods high in sulfur content include eggs, meat, and cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower.
◇Legumes
Oligosaccharides are contained in beans. Oligosaccharides are beneficial to our body but have the drawback of causing flatulence. They are not broken down by digestive enzymes but are decomposed by microorganisms in the large intestine, during which gas is produced. As a result, the pressure inside the large intestine increases, leading to the release of flatulence. In particular, people who have difficulty digesting oligosaccharides may experience more flatulence.
Carbonated soft drinks
When you drink carbonated beverages, some of the carbon dioxide gas is expelled through burping, while the rest is released as flatulence. As the carbon dioxide gas moves from the stomach to the colon, it becomes trapped inside the body, causing an increase in internal pressure within the colon and leading to gas expansion and farting. Additionally, artificial sweeteners found in carbonated drinks are also a major cause of flatulence, as they negatively affect the activity of beneficial bacteria in the intestines.

........
As I get older, I can no longer hold back my fart.
It keeps coming out unexpectedly, especially the meat.
It seems like I got really sick on the day I ate.
