Reasons why you shouldn't drink carbonated water like regular water!
Tooth damage
The outer surface of a person's teeth is covered with enamel, known as 'enamel'. It is hard but very vulnerable to acids, and carbonated water has a pH of about 3 to 5, making it mildly acidic. Therefore, frequent consumption of carbonated water can damage the enamel on the surface of the teeth. For dental health, it is recommended to brush your teeth 30 minutes after drinking carbonated water.
Gastrointestinal disorder
Sparkling water helps with digestive motility, and the carbon dioxide in sparkling water stimulates the stomach lining, aiding in the secretion of stomach acid. While this can help improve digestion, some people may find these effects uncomfortable. Therefore, those with gastritis or a weak stomach are advised to consume less carbonated water, as its properties can cause heartburn. Additionally, the carbon dioxide in sparkling water can negatively affect those with acid reflux, so individuals with such symptoms are also recommended to avoid sparkling water.
