Concern) Corneal injury caused by eyelash plucking

My eyes hurt so much that I went to the ophthalmologist, and they said I have a corneal injury. They said it was caused by eyelashes poking into the eye, and the solutions are either surgery or regularly plucking the eyelashes. I don't really want to have surgery, so is it okay to just keep plucking my eyelashes? ㅜㅜ It hurts a lot and is quite bothersome to do when I pluck them ㅠㅠ
