Lately, my eyes have been feeling bloodshot and dry, and I've been noticing a bad smell like bad breath, and I've also been getting eye discharge, so I went to the ophthalmologist. After a vision test, the doctor examined the inside of my eyelids and the tear film in detail with a slit lamp. The results of the test revealed that the cause was dry eye and eyelid inflammation due to meibomian gland dysfunction. He explained that the inflammation had led to a decline in eye hygiene, which had worsened the discomfort. Treatment began with lid cleansing and thermal massage to open clogged oil glands. Phototherapy was then used to alleviate inflammation, and artificial tears and anti-inflammatory eye drops were prescribed. The cleansing process was refreshing, without any stinging sensation, and immediately afterward, my eyes felt noticeably clearer. What I liked about this hospital was that they didn't just prescribe eye drops; they also provided numerical explanations of tear film test results. They even demonstrated eyelid cleansing techniques at home, making management easy. After about a week of treatment, my redness and foreign body sensations were noticeably reduced.
