Rib pain๐ I went to an orthopedic surgeon and got treatment for costal cartilage calcification.
I don't know exactly when, but one day while I was exercising, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my right rib.
I visited an orthopedic surgeon because of recurring pain.
I was diagnosed with costochondritis and am currently undergoing treatment for costochondritis.
The day I first realized I was sick, I was exercising at home like I usually do.
I don't usually like weight training like at the gym, and I like to do light exercises, so I do light home training for an hour about three times a week.
That day, as usual, I was watching a drama and doing abdominal exercises, and the moment my side was squeezed! Suddenly, without warning, it hurt like someone had stabbed me in the side of my stomach!
It was only a brief pain, so I thought it was a muscle strain, so I just ignored it and resumed exercising, but the next pain was excruciating.
Before I knew it, I let out a "Ugh!" sound and collapsed!
At the time, I thought I had just overdone it, so I stopped exercising, but from that day on, the symptoms started to appear in my daily life little by little.
For example, when I laughed loudly, coughed, or bent to the right, I felt like someone was poking me hard under my right ribs. I was worried, but until then, I foolishly tried to ignore it, thinking it was just a temporary feeling of stiffness.
Then one day, while I was taking pictures of my body while I was dieting, I noticed that the area where I was feeling pain was slightly bulging out!
I could definitely see that it was sticking out more than the left side, so I thought, "Ah, I need to go to the hospital," and went straight to the orthopedic surgeon.
After explaining my symptoms to the orthopedic surgeon, I got an X-ray and saw the doctor in charge.
The teacher suddenly showed me a skeleton model and started explaining the structure of the ribs.
Among them, what did you say while showing the costal cartilage part?
๐งโโ๏ธ: "This part is a soft bone-like structure, so it shouldn't be visible on an X-ray, but the patient's costal cartilage is calcified, so it appears white on the X-ray."
Ta-da...Huh? The idea of โโhaving to undergo costochondritis treatment was completely new to me.
I asked why and what the reason was for receiving it.
๐งโโ๏ธ: "There is no specific cause or reason for costal cartilage calcification treatment. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it's more common than you think, and it's a natural phenomenon, and in a way, it depends on the patient's constitution."
๐คทโโ๏ธ: "How long will it take for me to fully recover from costochondritis?"
๐งโโ๏ธ: "There is no cure, and the only way to treat costal cartilage calcification is to delay the progression of the calcification. Just don't worry or stress too much, and be careful."
๐คทโโ๏ธ: "..."
The existing calcification doesn't go away, and the treatment for costal cartilage calcification is to slow the progression of calcification. It usually happens to older people, but I'm in my 30s, so I'm just unlucky and have a bad constitution...ใ

It's frustrating because of the pain, but what can I do? I have no choice but to keep getting treatment๐ฅฒ
There is nothing special about the treatment, it is like physical therapy for the lower back.
He said it was important to get magnetic field therapy and electrical physical therapy to soften the surrounding muscles.
And she said that regular yoga, Pilates, and other exercises that help contract and relax the ribs by gently inhaling and exhaling deeply are good. She also said to avoid lifting heavy objects, such as weightlifting, as this can cause the calcified parts of the costal cartilage to break.
He prescribed me a back brace to wear around the house. He also gave me a week's worth of medication.
Of course, I am receiving treatment for costal cartilage calcification consistently, wearing a bandage, and taking medication.
As before, the pain in my daily life has decreased a lot.
But when I exercise, I still feel pain and irritation when I'm pushed, so I'll have to exercise slowly for the time being.
I'm still undergoing treatment for costal cartilage calcification, but if I continue to receive treatment, there will come a time when I will become indifferent to the pain.๐
I'm glad I found it now, and I'm glad it's not a serious illness.
