A study has found that higher vitamin D levels in patients with bile duct cancer are associated with lower survival rates.
There has been research suggesting that vitamin D helps prevent or inhibit the progression of colon and breast cancers. Therefore, some cancer patients pay a significant amount of money to receive high-dose vitamin D injections, but according to this recent study, it appears that it does not help cholangiocarcinoma patients.
Excessively high levels of vitamin D should also be considered, as they can induce inflammatory responses or cellular toxicity. While vitamin D exerts preventive and therapeutic effects against cancer at appropriate levels, high vitamin D levels may hinder the suppression of cancer cell growth or alter the microenvironment of surrounding tissues, potentially promoting cancer progression.
