"Instead of mayonnaise, eat this?"

"Eat this instead of mayonnaise?"... What if you changed the food you're hesitant to eat like this?

Sometimes, healthy eating doesn't require a complete overhaul of your diet. Simply swapping out your usual foods for something different can allow you to enjoy your favorites while increasing nutrition and reducing calorie intake. Let's explore some healthy food changes recommended by the American health information media outlet "Eat This, Not That."

△Plain Greek yogurt and fresh fruit instead of sweetened yogurt

Sweetened yogurt is often high in sugar and often lacks protein. Instead of sweetened yogurt, opt for plain yogurt and sweeten it with fresh fruit. This will increase protein intake while reducing calories, resulting in a nutritious and filling breakfast.

△Oatmeal instead of sugary cereal

Commercially available cereals are high in sugar and lack nutrients like protein and fiber. Consequently, they often spike blood sugar levels and leave you feeling full for a short time. On the other hand, oatmeal is rich in fiber, particularly beta-glucan, which has been shown to promote long-lasting satiety. Adding fresh fruit or nuts can further enhance its nutritional value.

△Whole grain bread instead of white bread

White bread is a high-calorie, empty calorie food that's low in nutrients, but whole-grain bread is rich in fiber, B vitamins, and protein, adding essential nutrients to your diet while keeping you feeling fuller for longer.

△Carbonated water with fruit instead of sugary drinks

Sugar-sweetened sodas and juices can quickly lead to calorie and sugar intake, increasing the risk of weight gain, diabetes, and heart disease. Replacing soda with sparkling water infused with fresh fruit can lower calories and added sugar while still offering a refreshingly tangy taste. This simple switch can help regulate blood sugar levels and achieve weight management goals.

△Avocado instead of mayonnaise

Try replacing high-calorie mayonnaise with chickpea hummus or avocado. This will instantly improve your diet by reducing calories while increasing fiber and nutrients. Two tablespoons of hummus contain about 70 calories, 2 grams of protein, and 2 grams of fiber. Two tablespoons of mashed avocado contain about 46 calories, 2 grams of fiber, and 4 grams of heart-healthy fat.

△Roasted chickpeas instead of potato chips

Potato chips are high in fat and calories, yet offer little nutritional value. If you want to increase fiber and protein while reducing calories, try roasted chickpeas. Enjoy a crunchy snack while helping you maintain your weight loss goals.

△Cottage cheese instead of cream cheese

Fat-free cottage cheese is high in protein and low in calories and fat. Two tablespoons contain about 13 calories, compared to 80 calories for cream cheese. Therefore, it's a great substitute for cream cheese in bagels or sauces.

===========

Chickpea hummus instead of mayonnaise?

I've never tried it,

I just used to eat chickpeas with rice.

Nowadays, instead of mayonnaise, we use

I'm eating thick Greek yogurt.

I really like the simple taste

I also eat sandwiches often.
