Coffee, you~~~ Why are you so hypocritical? 😡😡

According to research, drinking coffee before exercise increases the number of calories burned compared to usual. The group that exercised after drinking coffee burned more than 15% more calories during the three hours after exercise than the group that exercised without drinking coffee.

 

A study has found that people who drink coffee walk 1,000 more steps per day. This is based on a comparison of physical activity levels when not drinking coffee. A research team from the University of California conducted the first randomized experiment tracking caffeine intake, movement, sleep, and health over two weeks with 100 adults and found a correlation between coffee consumption and increased physical activity.

 

Participants who supported the study wore a series of sensors and monitors, including a continuous electrocardiogram recording device, a wrist-worn device that tracks physical activity and sleep, and a continuous glucose monitor that records blood sugar levels. Coffee intake was also recorded in real-time through a timestamp device on the ECG monitor. The research team collected participants' DNA saliva samples to examine whether there were genetic variations that could affect caffeine metabolism.

 

Research results show that drinking coffee reduces sleep duration and increases physical activity.

 

On days when I drank coffee, I walked 1,000 more steps per day compared to days when I didn't, and for each additional cup of coffee I drank, my step count increased by 600 steps. Conversely, on days I drank coffee, my sleep time decreased by 36 minutes. Additionally, each extra cup of coffee was associated with a further reduction of 18 minutes in sleep time.

 

Additionally, drinking coffee increased abnormal heartbeats originating from the lower ventricles by 54%. Experts say, "The more frequently abnormal beats occur from below, the higher the risk of heart failure." However, each additional cup of coffee was found to reduce the abnormally rapid heartbeat in the upper ventricles, known as supraventricular tachycardia, by 12%.

 

The research team explained, "Coffee is the most commonly consumed beverage in the world, but its health effects remain unclear," and added, "While most long-term observational studies have shown various potential benefits of coffee consumption, this study is the first randomized experiment to investigate the real-time, physiological effects of coffee intake."

 

The research team explained, "The increase in physical activity seemingly promoted by coffee consumption has various health benefits, including lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes and several cancers, and is also associated with longevity," while "on the other hand, reduced sleep duration is linked to various negative effects such as mental, neurological, and cardiovascular diseases."

    원래 커피가 그렇죠. 하루에 한두번은 괜찮다고 하는 게 아메리카노만 괜찮은 것 같더라구요. 시럽이나 설탕이 안 들어간 그냥 라떼도 괜찮구요.
