A couple who abused and caused the death of their 25-month-old daughter has been arrested by the police.

 

Daejeon Police Agency announced on the 18th that they plan to apply for arrest warrants for a man in his 30s, Mr. A, and his wife, Ms. B, on charges of child abuse resulting in death under the Special Act on Punishment of Crimes of Child Abuse.

 

This couple is accused of abusing and causing the death of their two-year-old daughter at their residence in Seo-gu, Daejeon, on the 16th.

 

They reported to 119 at around 1:06 a.m. that the baby was not breathing.

 

The young girl who was transferred to the hospital in cardiac arrest passed away around 10:48 a.m. on the same day.

 

Medical staff who discovered signs of abuse on the body of the victimized girl reported it to the police, and the National Institute of Scientific Investigation's autopsy confirmed evidence of abuse, leading to the arrest of the couple on the 17th.

 

The National Forensic Service reportedly conveyed to the police their preliminary oral opinion that the death is estimated to be due to brain hemorrhage caused by head injury.

 

It is reported that this couple complained of parenting stress during the police investigation.

 

The police are investigating the exact circumstances.
