Getting one year older

What does it mean to grow one year older?

Soon I will be a year older, but throughout my life, as I have grown older, I have never felt troubled or anything like that.

Of course, this year is not much different either.

I suddenly thought that when you get a year older, you become more mature and gain experience, but I feel like I've been pretty much the same person and just staying in the same place since I became an adult.
