Mycoplasma pneumoniae has caused a significant outbreak mainly among children and adolescents, with the number of hospitalized patients increasing nearly ninefold within a year. As cases resistant to first-line antibiotic treatment are rising, there is a call for the smooth administration of second-line antibiotics.

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on the 22nd, the number of hospitalized patients with Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection in the 45th week of this year (November 3-9) was 968, an increase from 810 in the previous week. After reaching a peak of 1,181 in the 33rd week of this summer, the number had been decreasing but recently started to rise again.
