We've all probably woken up to find ourselves swollen at least once. Persistent swelling is a sign of a metabolic imbalance. Let's explore the reasons why you might wake up swollen.

While it varies from person to person, most people experience a particularly puffy face upon waking. This is due to gravity. During the day, we typically sit or stand instead of lying down. At these times, gravity causes water in the body to pool in the lower extremities. Therefore, prolonged sitting or standing can lead to slight swelling in the lower extremities, especially the calves. On the other hand, when we sleep, our bodies lie flat, so gravity distributes the force evenly throughout the body. This causes more moisture to flow to the face than when we're awake. Areas with little subcutaneous fat, like the eyelids, are particularly prone to puffiness even with a small amount of moisture.

Even minor everyday factors can cause facial swelling. Sleeping face down with your face buried in the pillow or using a pillow that's too high can exacerbate the swelling. This is because the cervical spine bends, stretching the neck muscles. Eating spicy or salty foods before bed can also cause more swelling than usual the next day. High-salt foods increase water intake, leading to unnecessary fluid retention. Sleeping too much or too little can also cause swelling, disrupting the body's natural rhythm and interfering with metabolism. Stress is also a contributing factor to swelling. When people are stressed, the antidiuretic hormone is secreted, inhibiting urination. Without urination, fluids that should be eliminated remain in the body, resulting in swelling.

Are there any ways to minimize swelling before bed? First, avoid eating 1-2 hours before bedtime and reduce salty foods. Excessive sodium intake can cause facial and body puffiness, so it's recommended to eat lightly. Instead, try foods rich in protein and fiber. Foods that promote blood circulation and have a diuretic effect, such as pumpkin, seaweed, coix seed, beans, and potatoes, are good for preventing swelling.

.

Heat can also be used to reduce swelling. This works by dilating blood vessels and promoting circulation, which helps reduce swelling. Applying a warm towel or a towel soaked in hot water to the swollen area is recommended. Morning sweat-inducing exercises are also effective in reducing swelling. At least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise a day, such as simple calisthenics, stretching, or walking, can help prevent swelling. Frequently massaging the hands, feet, and face, which stimulate lymphocytes, can also help improve circulation.

=============

Definitely eat salty food in the evening and drink some water.

I feel like I swell more in the morning...

I thought it would be good to steam it with something cold.

A warm towel... it works if you put it on the swollen area.

Stretching in the morning... It's also good to press the lymph nodes.
