A husband who threatened his wife with a kitchen knife for being ignored was sentenced to probation.

According to legal circles on the 3rd, Judge Nam Seong-woo of the Suwon District Court Ansan Branch sentenced Mr. A, who was charged with special threats and destruction of property, to four months in prison with a one-year probation.

Mr. A was brought to trial on charges of threatening his wife, Ms. B, with a weapon at their residence in Siheung City, Gyeonggi Province, last September, and verbally assaulting her by asking, "Do you know why random murders happen?"

A, who had been harboring resentment towards B, was investigated for committing the act because B did not respond to his words at the time.

In particular, it appears that he mentioned during this process that "North Korean women should be beaten once every three days, and you are like that."

Person A confirmed that Person B reported the incident to 112, and it was also confirmed that Person B continued to make threatening remarks by smashing a mobile phone worth 1.5 million won with a hammer. The two are currently divorced.

Deputy Judge Nam stated, "The defendant and the victim are divorced, and the victim has expressed that they do not wish to see the defendant punished," and explained the sentencing rationale, saying, "The sentence is determined considering the defendant's age, sexual conduct, environment, and criminal record."
