Current status of the severe kimchi food poisoning outbreak in Namwon

Currently, about 1,000 people across 24 schools are suspected of food poisoning.

Namnwon City is in chaos over a single kimchi, and they say it's very serious now ㅠ

As of the 6th, it was reported that over 1,000 suspected cases of food poisoning from kimchi have occurred among schools in the Namwon area of Jeonbuk.

According to Namwon City, the number of suspected food poisoning cases related to Namwon kimchi among elementary, middle, and high schools in the city was tentatively counted at 1,024 as of 1 p.m. that day. This figure has increased by over 800 from about 160 cases on the morning of the 3rd over three days.

The number of schools with suspected food poisoning from Namwon kimchi has increased from 15 to 24. Students and staff at these schools are showing symptoms of suspected food poisoning such as vomiting, fever, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

A public health official stated, "We plan to conduct additional epidemiological investigations to identify the exact cause and will do our utmost to prevent the spread of food poisoning."
