It's often said that women are more patient than men, and that their patience grows stronger with age. Research has shown this to be true.
Menopause, the journal of the North American Menopause Society Menopause ) According to a study published in Women feel more angry as they age, but express it less often.
Researchers at the University of Washington examined health reports and menstrual data from 501 participants in the Seattle Midlife Women's Health Study and analyzed a subset of data from 271 women. Using this data, they explored possible associations between women's age, reproductive stage, and anger.
Participants were between 35 and 55 years old and were still menstruating. When the study began in the early 1990s, the average age was 41.6 years, and participants were well-educated, employed, married, and had middle-income status. The majority of participants were white.
The study found that feelings of anger, or "state anger," increased with age. However, the expression of anger decreased with age. "These results suggest that anger management skills improve with age," the researchers explained.
In particular, as menopause approached, anger was expressed less frequently and aggression and hostility decreased. The research team said, "As women approach menopause, they practice anger management, which will help them develop emotional and anger management skills as menopause progresses," she said.
“The mental health aspects of the menopause transition can have a significant impact on a woman’s personal and professional life,” said Monica Christmas, associate medical director of the Menopause Association. “Educating women about the potential for mood swings and actively managing their symptoms during this vulnerable time can have a profound impact on their overall quality of life and health.”
"There appears to be a link between heart problems (such as blood pressure) and long-term suppression of anger, especially if you're feeling anxious," said study author Dr. Nancy Woods. Further research is needed on anger in women as they age. " he said.
ha ha ha....
Anger that comes with aging...
As menopause progresses, it will help develop emotional and anger management skills...
It's good to develop that kind of ability, but why did it have to happen right around the time of menopause...ㅠㅠ
I wish I had that ability to control it now.....
