They say you shouldn't just leave your mouth dry.
It is absolutely not good to just leave your mouth dry.
Dry mouth (xerostomia) is more than just a simple inconvenience; it can lead to cavities, stomatitis, gum disease, bad breath, and even indigestion.
1. Drink water little by little, often.
It is better to drink slowly, taking sips every 10 to 15 minutes, rather than drinking a lot at once.
You should avoid sugary drinks, caffeine, and alcohol.
2. Use sugar-free gum or candy.
It promotes saliva secretion.
You should choose sugar-free products like xylitol gum to prevent cavities.
3. I mainly eat foods that do not irritate the inside of my mouth.
Spicy food, salty food, and fried food can make your mouth drier.
I like soft, moist foods (e.g., watermelon, pear, broth).
4. Rinse your mouth when it feels dry.
It is effective if you have saline solution or an oral moisturizing spray.
5. Use an alcohol-free mouthwash.
Mouthwash containing alcohol can make your mouth drier.
Please choose a product labeled 'alcohol-free'.
6. Maintain indoor humidity at 40–60%.
Using a humidifier or a mouth mask (sleep mouth cover) is especially helpful for people whose mouths get dry while sleeping.
