Ten roots of over 90-year-old Cheonjong mountain ginseng discovered at Deogyusan, Gyeongnam
Ten roots of over 90-year-old Cheonjongsan ginseng have been discovered on the foothills of Deogyusan in Hamyang County, Gyeongnam, attracting the attention of rare medicinal plant enthusiasts.
The Korea Traditional Herbalist Association announced on the 2nd that Mr. Hwang, a herbalist in his 60s, recently discovered this precious Cheonjongsan-sam on the slopes of Deogyusan.
Cheonjong mountain ginseng is a special medicinal plant that grows in a completely natural state without human intervention.
Mainly, birds and animals consume wild ginseng seeds, which naturally germinate through excretion processes, and only those that have been cultivated for over 50 years are recognized as Cheonjong Wild Ginseng. This natural germination process and long growth period further enhance the medicinal efficacy and value of Cheonjong Wild Ginseng.
The value and characteristics of rare Cheonjongsan Sam
Chairman Jeong Hyeong-beom of the Korea Traditional Herbalist Association praised the newly discovered Cheonjongsan Sam (Heavenly Treasure Mountain Ginseng), stating that "its color, shape, aroma, and taste were all outstanding," emphasizing its superior quality. Based on these excellent quality characteristics, the appraisal value was set at 90 million won.
Wild ginseng is known to have more potent medicinal effects because, unlike cultivated ginseng, it grows naturally in the wild environment.
Especially, Cheonjonginsam that has grown for over 90 years is recognized for its rarity and medicinal efficacy, and is regarded as a top-grade item in the traditional Korean herbal medicine market.
