Group 2NE1 member Sandara Park (40) continued to show her news-loving demeanor.

On the 25th, Sandara Park shared a video posted by her fellow group member CL on her Instagram account. Along with the video, she wrote, "One piece of kimbap is enough to fill me up." In the video, Sandara Park said, "I'm a small eater, so I can only eat one piece of kimbap," and showed a single piece of Japanese-style futomaki. Sandara Park is known as a representative small eater in the entertainment industry. What impact might eating small portions like Sandara Park have on health?

The habit of eating less helps to extend lifespan by limiting calorie intake. This is because restricting calories on certain days of the week activates survival circuits and longevity genes. A research team from the Pacific Health Research Institute in the United States analyzed the diets of Okinawa Blue Zone residents and found that calorie restriction contributed to longevity. In particular, they practiced the 'Hara Hachi Bu' eating habit, where they would put down their chopsticks when they thought their stomach was 80% full. Another study showed that participants who followed a restricted-calorie diet five days a week for three months experienced reductions in body fat and weight, as well as significantly lower blood pressure. Additionally, hormones such as IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor), which are often found in people living over 100 years, were also detected in these individuals.

 

However, not all news is good. If calorie intake is insufficient, our body breaks down stored fat to use as energy. However, in the long term, if calories are not consumed, even fat is depleted, leading to the breakdown of muscles and tissues in the body’s organs, which can cause serious health problems. The immune system may be compromised, impairing resistance to infections and wound healing. This can result in dry skin, hair loss, anemia, respiratory failure, menstrual cessation, numbness in hands and feet, and impaired physical ability due to muscle atrophy. Particularly, individuals with osteoporosis or diabetes should be cautious, as nutritional imbalances can worsen their symptoms.

If you want to try losing weight like Sandara Park, you need to gradually reduce your food intake over the long term. It is recommended to start by reducing your usual intake by 10-20% and then gradually decrease it to match your ideal body weight. Even when reducing food intake, you should not disrupt the essential calorie intake and nutritional balance for the body. Additionally, it is important to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at regular times with consistent portions. It also helps to plan your diet considering nutrients from meat, fish, beans, and vegetables.
