A woman in Thailand reportedly gave her husband a neck massage, which resulted in a significant portion of his brain becoming necrotic.

On the 7th (local time), according to Singaporean media Must Share News, a neurosurgeon named Pracha, who is active in Chiang Mai, Thailand, shared a case on Facebook of a 54-year-old man who experienced weakness in his right arm and leg and had difficulty speaking after his wife gave him a neck massage.

This man, who asked his wife for a neck massage, was found to have a significant portion of his brain necrotized.

After additional tests, it was found that this man had a severed carotid artery, preventing blood from circulating to his brain. A computed tomography (CT) scan revealed that his brain had not received blood supply for more than 8 hours.

In December of last year, there was an incident where a singer in her 20s experienced paralysis and ultimately died after receiving a neck-beating massage.

It was revealed through investigation that only 2 out of the 7 massage therapists at the store where this singer received a massage held certifications.

Pracha said, "Traditional Thai massage practitioners must master their skills," including studying human anatomy to learn how to handle the body accurately.
