Director Kim Soon-ryeol of CNC Han Clinic recently recommended the best food for eye health, 'Cassia seed,' on 'Knowledge Table,' and advised to consume it regularly.
He pointed out that "the biggest reason for the deterioration of modern people's eye health is due to excessive use of the eyes," and added, "Our bodies tend to lose function the more they are used like consumables. In particular, among the sensory organs, the eyes weaken first."
He explained, "Usually, people take a lot of supplements like vitamin A, lutein, and zeaxanthin for eye health, but in reality, it's hard to see significant effects." He further explained, "The reason is that these ingredients do not properly reach the eyes."
He emphasized that "consuming nutrients through food is much more effective than taking fat-soluble vitamin supplements," and added, "when you eat through food, your body absorbs only what it needs, and the rest is expelled, preventing nutrient excess or accumulation."
According to Director Kim, the best food for eye health is 'Cassia seed.' It is a medicinal herb frequently used in traditional medicine and is particularly effective for inflammatory eye diseases.
Most eye diseases, such as conjunctivitis or keratitis, involve inflammation caused by heat, leading to redness and fever. Cassia seeds have a cooling property that helps reduce this heat.
Additionally, the 'emodin' component contained in cassia seeds has an anti-inflammatory effect, making it excellent for maintaining eye health. Besides, it offers various health benefits such as relieving edema through diuretic action, aiding in weight loss, improving gastritis, and enhancing memory.
It is best to brew and drink Cassia seeds as a tea. Known as "Habu tea," Cassia seed tea produces a dark-colored liquid when boiled, and drinking it cool helps to cool down body heat.
However, for people with weak intestines, symptoms such as diarrhea or coldness may occur, so in such cases, it is also recommended to drink warm tea with ginger and jujube together.
Additionally, when consuming for the purpose of reducing swelling or dieting, boiling and drinking it together with corn silk enhances the diuretic effect, making it more effective.
I only drink water from the water purifier... hmm...
I'm thinking of buying some cassia seeds and boiling them to eat...
They say it's better than supplements... haha
The price is also cheaper... haha
