Cataract surgery. It's difficult to get inpatient approval from insurance.
My mother underwent cancer surgery. She had severe cataracts and was admitted for a day at the university hospital where she received cancer treatment, and then had cataract surgery. When I filed a claim with Heungkuk Fire & Marine Insurance for outpatient treatment, they only paid 250,000 won, claiming that cataract surgery is only covered as outpatient treatment, and then they closed the case. The hospital bill was 380,000 won. It’s not an overcharge; she was hospitalized because the hospital advised her to do so. Isn’t the insurance company's behavior too harsh? I went back to the outpatient clinic, explained the situation, and submitted a doctor’s opinion and surgical records for re-claiming, but I don’t know what the outcome will be. Fortunately, my mother is on heart medication, so I included her medical opinion, but for ordinary people, it seems difficult to have hospitalization costs recognized as treatment expenses.
