Cucumbers are a vegetable especially loved during hot summer days due to their freshness and high water content. However, the reasons to eat cucumbers are not just to quench thirst. Cucumbers offer various health benefits, and here are six reasons why you should include them in your diet.
  1. Hydration

According to research by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the high water content of cucumbers helps prevent dehydration and maintain the body's fluid balance. Cucumbers are composed of about 95% water, making them ideal for replenishing fluids in hot weather. Especially during summer, when higher temperatures cause more sweating than other seasons, proper hydration is essential. Adequate water intake aids in temperature regulation and the maintenance of bodily functions.

 

2. Weight management

According to research by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, cucumbers, a low-calorie food, have been found to be particularly effective for weight management. The research team also discovered that the group consuming cucumbers experienced less weight gain compared to the group that did not. Cucumbers are low in calories and rich in dietary fiber, making them satisfying, and they also help prevent weight gain. They are a vegetable that can be enjoyed without burden during dieting.


 

3. Antioxidant Effect
