(Concern) Ankle pain

I recently twisted my ankle while walking, and since then, my left outer ankle has been a bit sensitive. Why does it hurt so vaguely? It's awkward to go to the hospital, and maybe my usual gait was wrong because I often twist my ankle even normally.

 

There are six reasons why your ankle might be hurting.

1. Ankle sprain

It describes symptoms of ligament injury caused by falling or ankle sprain during exercise. These sprains usually heal on their own over time, but if overused or injured repeatedly, they can lead to degenerative arthritis.

 

2. Cold extremities (cold hands and feet)

Cold extremities are symptoms caused by insufficient blood supply to body parts far from the heart, resulting in cold hands and feet. The ankles are especially far from the heart, and cold stimuli can sometimes cause pain in the ankles.

 

3. Gout

The main reason for ankle pain is gout, which occurs when a substance called uric acid accumulates excessively in the body and is not excreted. When it is dissolved in the blood and not expelled through the kidneys, it causes inflammation and pain.

 

4. Achilles tendinitis

It is a symptom that occurs during long periods of standing or intense activity, where the Achilles tendon weakens, becomes inflamed, or ruptures due to continuous stimulation.

 

5. Stress Fracture

(Concern) Ankle pain

It is also called a fatigue fracture, which is a fracture caused by repetitive stimuli such as intense exercise or training. Muscles have the effect of absorbing vibrations and do not directly stimulate the bones.

 

6. Musculoskeletal system and rheumatoid arthritis

(Concern) Ankle pain

One of the main reasons for a sore throat is rheumatoid arthritis, which is also known as ankle bursitis. It occurs due to inflammation of the bursa, a fluid-filled sac, in the joint whenever the joint moves.

 

# How to prevent ankle pain

The main reason for ankle pain is that the bones are tense. To prevent ankle pain, you need to increase muscle mass.

The exercises recommended by doctors are walking in water, cycling, and light jogging. Daily ankle stretching is also a good method.
