Cure and Treatment Review of Cystitis

Hello!
I am someone who suffered greatly from cystitis, and after finally being cured, I want to share my experience with you, so I am writing this review. Treating cystitis was not an easy process, but I am so happy to have regained my health after putting in the effort. If there are anyone suffering like me, I hope this can be of some help.

When I first contracted a bladder infection, it was really difficult. I went to the bathroom dozens of times a day, and every time I urinated, it was stinging and painful, making it hard to endure. Especially at night, I would wake up repeatedly wanting to go to the bathroom, which increased my fatigue and made daily life very uncomfortable. At first, I thought, "It will just hurt a little and then get better," but even after a few days, there was no improvement, so I visited a hospital. The doctor performed a urine test and diagnosed E. coli as the cause, prescribing antibiotics. At the time, I thought I was getting better for a moment, but it soon recurred. From then on, I thought, "This might be serious," and started looking for proper treatment options.

I read online that women are more likely to get cystitis than men. Because the urethra is shorter, bacteria can easily ascend to the bladder. Especially if, like me, you don't drink enough water and have a habit of holding in your urine frequently, it's even more dangerousㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
I realized how neglectful I have been of my bladder health. So, I decided to change my lifestyle habits along with treatment.

First, I started by consistently taking the antibiotics prescribed at the hospital. The doctor gave me a 3-day course of medication, and during that time, my symptoms slightly subsided. However, after stopping the medication, I started to feel pain again gradually. So this time, I visited the urology department. The doctor there said it could be recurrent cystitis and suggested a urine culture test. Until the test results came back, I was advised to drink plenty of water and not hold my urine. When the results came out, it was confirmed to be caused by E. coli, and the doctor mentioned that I might have developed resistance to the antibiotics I was taking. Therefore, they switched me to a different antibiotic, which I took for about 7 days, and I definitely felt the effects from that point on.

However, just taking medication is not the end of it. The doctor emphasized that lifestyle changes are really important for cystitis. So, I thought about what to change first, and I started by fixing my drinking habits. I used to drink less than 500ml of water a day, but now I am trying to drink at least 2 liters (!). At first, I kept forgetting to drink water, so I set alarms to remind myself, but now I’ve gotten used to it and do it naturally. Drinking more water makes me urinate more frequently, and I feel like bacteria in the bladder have no chance to accumulate.

And I also broke the habit of holding my urine. In the past, I would hold it because I was busy and didn't have time to go to the bathroom, but I think that made the cystitis worse. Now, whenever I feel the urge to urinate, I try to go to the bathroom immediately. At first, it was a bit inconvenient, but thanks to this habit, my bladder feels much more comfortable. Also, I thoroughly wiped from front to back after bowel movements. I was told this is important to prevent bacteria near the anus from entering the urethra. I also take frequent showers in general, especially during menstruation, I try to maintain better hygiene.

As a result, I gradually felt my symptoms decrease. After about a month, the pain when urinating was almost gone, and I experienced much less frequent urination. Still, I visited the urology clinic again just to be sure, and the doctor told me, "The inflammation is now almost gone." I can't tell you how happy I was to hear that! However, the doctor advised me to continue managing my health to prevent recurrence, so I am still drinking plenty of water, not holding my urine, and maintaining good hygiene habits.

What I realized is that there are limitations to solving cystitis with medication alone. Of course, antibiotics are necessary, but without supporting lifestyle habits, it’s difficult. Drinking plenty of water, maintaining hygiene, and boosting immunity may seem simple, but when combined, they are very effective. I also realized that there’s no need to worry excessively about recurrence. At first, I was worried, "Will I be sick like this for life?" but with consistent management, I found that it’s a condition that can be fully cured.

If you are currently suffering from a bladder infection, please visit the hospital for an accurate diagnosis, take the prescribed medication, and also try to change your lifestyle habits. It may be difficult at first, but if you don't give up, you will definitely get better. I did the same!
Everyone, stay strong and take good care of your health!
