Four reviews of my nephew's facial contour surgery to address his protruding jaw

Facial contour surgery is a plastic surgery performed to create a balanced face rather than to change the shape of the face.

1️⃣ Motivation for undergoing facial contour surgery

Maybe because my sister-in-law has a protruding jaw, her son, my nephew, also has a protruding jaw.

I visited a plastic surgery clinic in Busan and received a consultation, where I was diagnosed with a protruding jaw and malocclusion of the teeth.

My nephew, who studied in the United States in second grade of elementary school, couldn't find a job after graduating from college due to COVID-19 and was diligently preparing for employment.

2️⃣ Facial contour surgery process and duration

Facial contour surgery is a highly complex procedure in the field of cosmetic plastic surgery, as it involves reshaping the facial bones, and it is performed under general anesthesia, taking approximately four hours.

Facial contour surgery was performed after a one-day hospital stay and then discharged.

I couldn't wash my face for about three days after the surgery and discharge, and I had the stitches removed after a week. The bruising and swelling gradually subsided, and after two weeks, I had recovered to some extent.

The cost was about 2,000 to 2,500.

 

3️⃣ Postoperative care

To reduce swelling and bruising, cold compresses were applied, and taking antibiotics and painkillers was essential to prevent infection and manage pain.

Among the doctor's precautions, fortunately, my nephew did not drink alcohol or smoke, and he just needed to get enough rest.

4️⃣ Side effects and risks of facial contouring surgery

All surgeries carry risks or side effects, and my nephew is experiencing pain in one ear after the surgery, along with headaches and ear pain.

The hospital is monitoring the situation over time, and after taking medication and a brief treatment, the pain continues.

Facial contour surgery is one of the most preferred procedures among young people in their 20s and 30s who are sensitive to changes in appearance, as it makes the face look smaller and more slender.

 

My older brother, feeling stressed about his son's appearance, wanted to help as a parent, so since he is a university professor, he visited and consulted only with a doctor recommended by a fellow professor.

It seems like a mistake to have rushed and decided on only one place for surgery.

 

 

They are still complaining of being sick in the United States.

The facial contour surgery I chose to boost my confidence in my appearance has instead caused ear pain and discomfort.

 

Every time I come to Korea from the United States and seek help at a plastic surgery clinic, they only prescribe anti-inflammatory and pain relief medications.

 

I regret not researching thoroughly, including surgical experience and post-surgery reviews, and choosing the right surgery for my nephew.
