[Procedure Review] Experience of removing fibroadenoma with mammotome
I had a fibroadenoma removal surgery on my breast the week before last.
It's a surgery for me, but for the hospital and insurance companies,
It's just a really minor procedure. Haha.
The hospital I visited is Choi Eun-Ae Surgery located in Dalseo-gu, Daegu.
This is the place where I have been receiving regular medical treatment for 18 years.
In my twenties, I didn't know much about the department called urology.
I heard that a friend's friend is already undergoing breast treatment.
This is the place where I first went for a check-up with my friend.
There are currently a lot of urology departments, but
At that time, there was only one place nearby.
The nurses here have a strangely unfriendly vibe, haha.
When we talk, he/she is kind.
On the surface, it seems very formal and unfriendly.
So, if I say I shouldn't talk too much, then I end up being kind again lol
Well... the doctor is the one who provides the treatment, and
It's a place known for the doctor's excellent skills, so
I believe and go to the place where I have worked for 18 years.
I used to get a check-up almost once a year.
Because when I was a teenager, my mother had breast cancer surgery.
Because of family history, I was afraid and never missed my check-ups.
Then, when I received the national health checkup, I also had an ultrasound added.
I receive it once every two years.
Last year during a health check-up, I mentioned that my right side was hurting.
A lump has been found on the left side.
Two objects about 1 centimeter in size have been found.
It was done because a biopsy was needed, and although it was positive, it is not cancer.
They said I don't need to have surgery.
But we need to watch the situation to see if the size is increasing or not.
And I went for a check-up again after 10 months.
I heard that one of the two has become larger.
So, we decided to proceed with immediate removal surgery and went for the removal three days later.
No incision was made because it was done with a mammotome.
It was a bit painful during anesthesia, but the surgery? procedure? itself was not painful.
It was said to take about 20 to 30 minutes.
It felt like it was over in less than five minutes, in my opinion.
They insert something like a needle after anesthesia to extract tissue.
I was admitted for treatment.
It was simple enough to do as an outpatient, but
After doing it, I thought I should be hospitalized.
You need to apply intense pressure to the chest area after surgery.
I thought it would be better to stay hospitalized and rest comfortably.
And please make sure to bring your husband with you.
I was planning to go alone, but my husband said he would go too, so we went together.
The nurse told me to press on the operated area with this amount of force, so I pressed it.
I just couldn't do it on my own.
My husband presses it, saying, "Is it this much? Is it this much?"
I did it with the strength I was told by the nurse earlier.
It was so exhausting that one person's arm almost fell off.
But I have to do that for an hour.
The reason I press this is to stop the bleeding.
Most of the time, even if you press it, it turns into a bruise and lasts for about a month.
But I have no bruises!! LOL
Your husband presses so gently that there are no bruises at all.
The doctor told me that.
There is a small yellow bruise about 1 centimeter in size on the surgical site.
Even that disappeared really quickly.
It was so painful that even my back hurt when I pressed.
I didn't realize it was this good to the point of not even getting a bruise.. haha
This is a removed fibrous adenoma.
It looked like some kind of fat or pus was drained.
Mosaic processing to avoid disgust.
You said it is a size of 1.17 centimeters.
The amount that came out was really impressive.
I visited alone the next day and disinfected.
I developed a rash on the skin where the bandage was applied, rather than on the surgical site.
That hurt more,ㅠㅠ
Wore compression bandages for a few days and visited again after a week.
The biopsy results confirmed that it is not cancer.
It is said that the removal was successful.
Watching over the remaining lump carefully.
I'm going back for a follow-up exam in six months~
