Review of getting a splint and braces twice at Paju Saei Dental Clinic
2025.07.18 17:45
Paju Saei Dental Clinic is a dental clinic located in Paju, Gyeonggi-do, specializing in orthodontics and implants.
The dental clinic is quite large and the interior is clean.
There is a director who boasts 30 years of experience, as indicated by the "Since 1995" sign; however, he is younger than expected (?) and is incredibly meticulous.
They never over-treat and only provide necessary medical care, and they explain everything thoroughly.
Since I have been receiving dental treatment from that director for a long time, he knows the condition of my teeth inside and out just by looking at them, so whenever I go there because of discomfort, he immediately identifies the problem and provides excellent treatment.
1. Splint Correction
I went to the hospital because of clicking or popping sounds in my jaw and mouth, and it turned out to be temporomandibular joint (TMJ). (A phenomenon where sounds occur due to misalignment of the jaw joint occlusion.)
The first step in temporomandibular joint treatment was splint correction.
I learned about splints for the first time then, and the hospital explained them to me in detail.
If that brace works well, it would have ended with a splint, but it didn't work well for me, so I ended up getting braces.
2. Orthodontics
I didn't get braces as a minor; I got them when I was 20. I heard that the treatment period is long if you do it after becoming an adult, and it really was long... It took a whopping three years.
It took a little longer because my teeth had temporomandibular joint issues and malocclusion, but they always provided thorough care during my regular checkups for the past three years.
3. Re-correction
Even after orthodontic treatment is finished, teeth have a tendency to return to their original positions.
I also found that my lower teeth had become crooked a few years after my braces were finished.
When I went for a regular check-up, the director recommended re-orthodontics first, so I had only my lower teeth re-corrected.
The re-correction took two years.
4. Present
After a whopping five years of orthodontic treatment, I am currently wearing a retainer on the inside of my lower teeth.
It looks straight from above, but actually, from the front, it isn't 100% completely flat...
I have suffered so much for five and a half years that I am exhausted from further re-correction, so I am satisfied with the current state.
Still, compared to before, my jaw joint has improved and my teeth have become much more aligned, so even though the orthodontic treatment took a really long time, I am satisfied.
I am still regularly visiting the dentist for scaling.
These days, dental hygienists do scaling (of course, I know it’s fine even if a dental hygienist does it, but)
This is also a dental clinic that I trust even more because the director personally performs all the scaling!
