Recently, Choi Hwa-jeong's YouTube channel "Hello, I'm Choi Hwa-jeong" posted a video titled "5 Super Simple Family-Recipe Side Dishes Passed Down Through Generations in the Choi Hwa-jeong Household."

 

In the video, Choi Hwa-jung said, "Today, I will introduce a side dish unique to our family," and "First, I will try making 'Mushroom Jellyfish Stir-fry.'" After taking out the mushroom jellyfish, she said, "Many people think it's only used in japchae, but my mom made a braised dish with mushroom jellyfish," and "If you soak it in water for about an hour, it will swell."

 

Choi Hwajeong's revealed recipe for braised wood ear mushrooms involves adding broth to cleaned wood ear mushrooms, seasoning with fish sauce, and finally adding star anise, Sichuan pepper, and peperoncino. She said, "Eating it this way is really good as a side dish for rice, a snack with alcohol, and just when you're bored," and praised it as "the best diet food."

 

Maitake mushrooms, low in calories and highly filling, help with dieting.

 

The wood ear mushrooms recommended by Choi Hwajeong have a very low calorie content of about 30 to 50 kcal per 100g and are low in fat, making them suitable as a meal replacement or snack during dieting. Additionally, they are rich in fiber, which helps maintain a feeling of fullness for a long time, preventing overeating.

 

Furthermore, wood ear mushrooms contain plant-based protein, which can contribute to the essential protein intake during dieting. Protein is important for maintaining muscle mass and helps increase basal metabolic rate, aiding in weight loss.
